Dr. Rebecca Metcalfe is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed her PhD at UBC in Population and Public with an emphasis on decision science in 2021. Dr. Metcalfe uses qualitative and quantitative methods to explore patient preferences and values and examine how they can be applied in healthcare to inform care and improve processes. She also works with patients, care providers and other stakeholders to design tools to support individual patient decision-making. Her research spans diverse health areas including perinatal care, chronic conditions like multiple sclerosis, and mental health. As a member of RESP, Dr. Metcalfe is working with physicians, clinic staff, and individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to design a decision support tool to integrate RESP’s ACCEPT clinical prediction model into routine clinical care.
