Biography

Laura is an incoming research intern in RESP at UBC and a participant of the Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) programme. She is a penultimate-year PhD candidate at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (NUS SSHSPH) and had previously completed an MSc by Research in Statistics at NUS. Laura’s current research is focused on modelling the economic burden of multimorbidity in patients with chronic respiratory conditions in Singapore using population-based real-world data, and assessing the impact of guideline-based treatment and ambient air quality. Laura is involved in various collaborative works in health economics and outcomes research, including cost projection, predictive modelling and cost-effectiveness analyses. In addition, she also teaches data literacy in healthcare and contributes actively to qualitative research fieldwork in mental health, physical activity, healthy longevity and health preference. During her attachment in RESP, Laura will be working on a NOVELTY (a NOVEL observational longiTudinal studY) project aimed at validating and recalibrating the Acute COPD Exacerbation Prediction Tool (ACCEPT) 2.0 in predicting severe and non-severe exacerbations in COPD patients, with the end goal of supporting personalised disease management in the COPD population. In her free time, Laura enjoys music, fiction and café-hopping.
